1)The Cannon law was a law submited by the church. The cannon law was a law that made each person equal under marriage and religious practices. It did not matter if you where a king or a midieval christian or a peasant. For example not only must I have to follow the laws, cops as well must follow the laws and we all get the same punishment if we dont.
2)If anyone would disobey the cannon law they would face a puishment. A king would get exvommunication. Excommunication is when you are banished from the church. If the king kept on disobeying the pope the king would get a worse consequence, he would get the interdect. The interdect is when many religous sacraments or religious services would not be allowed to be practied on that kings land. So the people of that land would believe that they would go to hell. Like when a teacher tells you to bequiet and you keep on talking you will then get sent to the dean.
